J Armus is currently consulting on a a wide range of projects, magazine startups, bookazines, branding, and other corporate design strategies. Over the past 20 years, She has worked on a wide variety of magazine brands including O, the Oprah Magazine, EveryDay with Rachael Ray, Saveur, Entertainment Weekly, Offspring, and Real Simple. She has completed over a dozen redesigns, managed creative teams both small and large, and has worked with some of the best photographers and illustrators worldwide. J also designed dozens of books for Clarkson Potter, Harper Collins, Atria Books, Time Inc and Hearst.
J’s awards include the Society of Publication Designers silver and merit awards, Society of Illustration, Print Design Annual, American Illustration, American Photography, and Art Directors Annual. Also nominated for ASME for Design for Entertainment Weekly and Saveur, ASME nominated for photography for Saveur (winner), Ozzie Silver for Redesign of Prevention. J has also participated multiple times as a judge for SPD between the years of 2006-2020.
J also served on the Board of Directors, for Leave Out Violence, an organization that enables youth who have been affected by violence to create positive change in their lives. There, she launched and chaired an annual photography auction that raised awareness and funds for this non-for-profit, for over 10 years.
